2025 Feature Artist - It Hao Pheh

      It Hao Pheh was born In 1972  in Penang, Malaysia.    In 1989, he received a full scholarship to study at the Malaysian Institute of Art, majoring in Fine Arts in oil. After graduating from college, he began to work in an architectural company as a draughtsman for two years.  In 1999, he underwent an honours degree in Fine Art at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design, University College, majoring in abstract art.   He then returned to Malaysia and worked as a gallery curator in Kuala Lumpur for four years. After he stopped working as a gallery curator, It Hao became a full time artist while also taking up a job as a lecturer in the Fine Art Department at Dasein Academy of Art.

 Since 1989, It Hao has successfully held 20 solo exhibitions and over 300 group exhibitions in Australia and abroad. He has won countless awards including the Best Traditional at the Camberwell Rotary Art Show 2017, Streeton Robert McCubbin Award 2019 (Best Landscape), Warrandyte Art Show 2023 (Best In Show), Victorian Artists Society, Summer Exhibition 2024 (Best In Show), and most recently the winner of “The John Dudley Portrait Prize”.  Some of his works are displayed in Malaysia and include the National Art Gallery.
